Mr. Alex Tang
Counseling Psychologist
MSSc (CP), MSSc (BH), BPsySc
Alex Tang is a counseling psychologist who obtained his Master of Social Sciences in Counseling Psychology in Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Master of Social Sciences in Behavioral Health in the University of Hong Kong, and Bachelor of Psychological Sciences in the University of Queensland (Australia). He is also a full member of Division of Counseling Psychology in Hong Kong Psychological Society, and an associate member of Hong Kong Institute of Analytical Psychology.
Alex specializes in individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults. He conducts his therapy in a psychodynamic approach. In the essence, this approach helps clients change and grow from within, because inner change is long-lasting and stable. It helps clients find relief from mental or emotional stress, identify the hidden roots in past to the present psychological pain, promote self-reflection and self-examination, develop a better understanding of present challenges, develop more effective and constructive coping techniques, and facilitate life transformation and personality growth.
Alex has worked with patients with personality disorders, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, phobia, insomnia, grief and loss issues, early trauma, sexual issues, and other developmental issues. He believes that by gaining insight of how the past life experience and feeling are still alive in the here-and-now moment, individuals will be able to understand why they keep falling into the same struggles and hardships. Through psychodynamic psychotherapy, they can make their conscious and thoughtful choices, and eventually achieve lives that they authentically and meaningfully desire for themselves.
Besides his psychotherapeutic work, Alex also extensively provides seminars, workshops, training, and group works in related to mental health, career planning, and personal growth for schools, universities, NGOs, and companies.
